Our collections draw inspiration among the various cultures of the people with diverse backgrounds who have succeeded one another throughout the rich history of the oldest living city in the world, in the wake of the ‘Red Halo’ of Lord Shiva who founded this place, whether some may call it Kashi, Banaras, Benares or Varanasi…
RED HALO was launched by Manish Gupta from Benares (Varanasi – India) and Laurent Goldstein from Paris (France) who wanted to blend their two cultures keeping the essence of their unique heritage using traditional handicrafts techniques with a contemporary vision for interiors.
Manish and Laurent share a similar background being both raised among colours, threads, fabrics, worldwide trends, high standards of quality and developing an open spirit and understanding of the requirements of a demanding clientele.
Since their paths crossed, the two designers gathered their skills in a four-handed work where each collection reflects the meeting of two cultures in a Indo-Western fusion.
RED HALO is based in Benaras (Varanasi), the sacred city standing along the holy waters of the Ganges which became a major step in the Grand Trunk Road as part of the Silk Route for centuries.
This road played a significant role in the diffusion of ideas, dissemination of knowledge and technology, exchange of commodities and talents between East and West.
To name a few, in the ancient times ladies in the Roman world were found of Banarasi fabrics, later famous fabrics of Provence called “les indiennes” started printing some sari designs on cotton and Marie-Antoinette in Versailles was also wearing damask weaved in Benares.
Fabrics and embroideries are manufactured in the company’s workshop respecting ethics all ecological values.
Products are thought with a luxury eye and with a particular emphasis on cut and fabric, aimed at a sophisticated clientele.
RED HALO started to show its first collection in 2002 in Paris, then exhibited for the first time in 2007 at “Maison & Objet”.
Over the years the brand has continuously expanded its product and service range, gearing it to the requirements of its international clients such as Christian Dior, Jean-Louis Scherrer, Kenzo, Yves Delorme, Manuel Canovas, Nobilis or Le Bon Marché.
